I think the hardest thing for me to understand is how people can truly believe God does not exist. There are many out there who say they do not believe in God. Yet they often use Gods name in vane or call out his name when scared. One thing I have noticed when it comes to atheism is that they seem as on fire to prove God does not exist as Christians are to show God is real. That got me to thinking.
Why do Christians preach? Of course that one is simple. When someone finds something really special, they naturally want to share it. When a good person sees someone in serious trouble, they want to help them. That is why a Christian wants to bring others to God. When someone experiences that special love they feel in God's presence, they want others they care about to experience it as well. When they realize how much easier life is to handle when they have faith in God, they want others to know it as well. On the other side of it, a Christian truly believes in Hell. A Christian knows Hell is not the image of people laboring in caverns of fire like we see in comics, but it is a place that is absent of anything good. It is pure darkness and pain. It is absolute loneliness and sorrow. It is the worst of all sufferings. It is only natural a Christian would not want to see others end up there. Christians try to bring others to Jesus because they care and are doing it out of a sense of love and goodness.
Why do Atheist hate Christianity? In a recent article I wrote about the meaning of Christianity. What it stands for. Helping others. Love. Support. Honesty, companionship and honor. Christians don't want to see others hurt. They don't want to steal, kill, fight or harm others in any way. At least true Christians don't. Why would anyone be so against this? Why would atheists stand so strong against Christianity when Christianity is essentially a belief in a God that is against the evil in this world? Then it hit me. They simply do not understand. For all sorts of reasons I am sure, but it All boils down to the same simple truth. They do not understand the truth.
Many people turn into Atheists because they were affected by a pseudo-Christian. God knows the world has seen enough of those. The "So called Christian" who is two faced and talks about you behind your back. Or the ones who talk about God and Jesus and then go out get drunk. There are hundreds of different kinds of pseudo-Christians, but they all do the same thing. Lead others to believe that's what Christianity is. Because so many claim to be Christians, millions of people see Christianity in the wrong image. Some of them turn against Christianity and become Atheists. They ridicule God and Jesus and their faithful. Simply because what a person did under a false representation of a Christian.
Maybe the atheist was hurt by Christianity. Maybe someone they loved became a Christian and it caused their lives to go different directions. Losing someone we love is always a hard thing and often we need to put the blame on something. In those cases they will blame it on religion.
Often people become atheists because that is what they were taught. Just like when a white man grows up seeing how his father hates black people so they end up racists too. Sometimes someone accepts homosexuality as OK, they become friends with some people who they find out are gay and often they themselves convert. This one I know for a fact. I know someone who that very thing happened to. It has the same effect. If someone grows up in surroundings around atheism, the odds of them becoming an atheist are much higher. They always hear about how crazy Christians are. They hear how two faced they are or whatever the story happens to be. They experience some of the more zealous Christians and think those stories are true. But they never get to know a real Christian and they never get to know what Christianity is about, so they continue the heritage and hate the God they don't believe in.
Just as often, atheism is derived from intelligence. Some of the more intelligent people tend to want to see proof of everything. Since they cannot see hard evidence of God, they believe God does not exist. Usually in these cases, their intelligence puts them on a level above everyone else. They tend to look down on others who don't see things the same as they do and the thought of believing in something that is not founded by scientific equations is to them ridiculous.
I am sure there are many more reasons one becomes an atheist, but it still comes down to one simple fact. They just don't understand. They do not understand what God is all about. They do not understand what Jesus did and why. They do not understand what real Christianity is.
There is almost 7 billion people in this world. Probably around 99% of them believe in God. Many may be from different religions and many may not think much about him, but I bet nearly 99% of them when asked would say they believe there is some Deity out there that could be a God. Yet because they do not understand God, they do not believe.
I personally don't understand how anyone can not at least believe God is real. More than that however, I don't understand how anyone would be so against Christianity when everything it stands for is good.

"There is almost 7 billion people in this world. Probably around 99% of them believe in God."
Wrong; the "nonreligious" (an admittedly catch-all group) are around 1 billion people, roughly 16%:

I don't understand how anyone can believe gods are real. Gods never actually show up.
Unless they actually polled every person on the planet, they could not have an accurate percentage like 16%. That is their estimate and the 99% was mine. They may be closer than I but neither can say their estimation is correct.
So do you believe that we live by happenstance? That by random events we were created and developed and are not only mostly symmetrical but have the ability to think, to love, to feel? Ive never seen anything that was truly random end up organized. Yet there is a lot of organization about the way we are put together.
As for God never showing up? He does. Once he even showed up in a physical human form. Many just don't want to believe it. I have felt his presence and I have seen him answer prayers. In fact I just saw a prayer answered today.
For every one person who believes God does not exist, there are many who do believe. Many of those have felt his presence and had God answer there prayers. But why would someone who denies his existence expect he would show up for them? If someone refused to treat me with any respect, I would find it hard going out of my way for them. Yet he does very often but some choose to make excuses for what happened rather than believe.
I dont mean to argue with you. I feel bad that you seem so adimant against God. I just feel there is so much evidence of God if we just stop and open our eyes and mind.
